Description of the Assignment: 


To ensure that newly appointed members understand their roles, responsibilities, and the strategic direction of the Council.


Objectives:


To deliver a 3-day induction workshop aims to

  1. Familiarize Council members with the mandate, vision, and objectives of the CEEC.
  2. Provide an overview of relevant policies, regulations, and governance structures
  3. Enhance understanding of economic empowerment strategies and initiatives.
  4. Equip members with the necessary tools to effectively contribute to the Council’s mission.
Scope of work

The consultant will train council members on: 
  1. Introduction to the CEEC: History, mission, and strategic goals.
  2. Governance and legal framework: Policies, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  3. Principles of Corporate Governance IV & V.
  4. Roles and responsibilities of Council members.
  5. Key economic empowerment programs and initiatives.
  6. Stakeholder engagement and collaboration strategies. Facilitate testing of product samples at development stage in the case of product certification to verify product conformity to applicable requirements.
  7. Monitor and document the implementation through certification processes and MSMEs performance, including estimating average costs and timelines associated to adhering to the guidelines inclusive of documenting MSMEs perceptions of the certification procedures.

  • Interactive discussions and Q&A sessions
  • Case studies and practical exercises
  • Group activities to foster collaboration and strategic thinking
  • Any other relevant methods
Expected Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants should:
  • Have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Be familiar with the governance framework and operational procedures.
  • Be equipped with knowledge of economic empowerment strategies.
  • Establish a network for effective collaboration within the Council
Duration and Venue

The workshop will be conducted over three full days based in a venue to be determined on finalisation of this contract. The induction will be residential, and all members are expected to attend without fail.

Expected output and deliverables.
  1. Inception report detailing methodology for delivering workshop including the associated training guides, programme, and modules to be covered and training materials
  2. Delivery of Induction Workshop
  3. Final report submission on outcomes of training and recommendations.
The ideal candidate is expected to subscribe to the below minimum requirements
Qualifications and Experience 
  • Master’s degree in business administration/leadership or any other related fields 
Professional Experience: 
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in corporate governance training and be registered with the Institute of direct SA.
  • Demonstrated experience disseminating information to a non-technical audience and must have full knowledge of King IV and V principles.
  • Experience developing training materials and conducting training.
  • The Consultant should be locally based
  • Creative and engaging
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, liaise with people and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Good English language oral and writing skills

Period of assignment/services: 1 months
