Introduction

The main objective of this study is to carry out a detailed feasibility study and detailed engineering design of the identified mini grid systems in Torba and Malampa Provinces, Vanuatu. In continuation of the close partnership between UNDP and Department of Energy (DoE) of Vanuatu for expanding rural electrification in Vanuatu, this study is highly anticipated to assist both UNDP and DoE to have a pipeline of implementation-ready mini grid systems for immediate execution as and when required.

Specific objectives of the assignment are as follows: 

a) Detailed site assessment and feasibility study (including technical, financial, and socioeconomic viability); 

b) Detailed Engineering Design and Drawings (of power generation and distribution system); 

c) Bill of Quantities and cost estimation of the proposed energy system; 

d) Productive End Use (PEU) baseline preparation and inclusion of its demand in the feasibility study;

e) Preparation of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Gantt chart for the proposed project; 

f) Detailed financial assessment of the project.
