Introduction
UNDP is launching an initiative to enhance the resilience and sustainability of food systems in Jordan and Kenya, addressing the interconnected challenges of humanitarian needs, peacebuilding, and development. This initiative brings together the expertise of the UNDP Food and Agriculture Commodity Systems (FACS) team within BPPS, the Crisis Bureau Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery for Building Resilience (DRT), and the UNDP Resilience Hub for Africa in Nairobi. By integrating sustainable food system strategies with crisis management expertise, the project will adopt a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary approach to tackling food insecurity and fostering resilience.
As part of its commitment to sustainable tourism, rural livelihoods, and inclusive local economies, UNDP seeks to engage a dynamic and experienced organisation to co-develop an agritourism experiment. The selected partner will work closely with communities in the Jordan Valley and the commissioned food specialist to design, test, and promote an innovative pilot that integrates food systems with sustainable tourism. The initiative aims to support local food production, preserve cultural heritage, and empower marginalized groups, particularly women and youth can be inspired by agri-tourism initiatives implemented elsewhere in Jordan while highlighting the unique selling point for this initiative.
