(Unipods) Software and Hardware Equipment
The Uni Pod Initiative is a key pillar of the Timbuktoo Project, which aims to enhance Africa's innovation ecosystem to solve its own developmental challenges. In partnership with seven Nigerian universities, the project supports the establishment of functional engineering and creative design spaces focused on agro-tech, digital solutions, electronics, renewable energy, and creatives. These universities include:
University of Lagos -Artificial Intelligence, Nasarawa State University, Keffi - Mining, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria - Sector Agnostic, University of Maiduguri - Sector Agnostic, University of Uyo - Sector Agnostic, Benue State University, Makurdi - Sector Agnostic, Michael Okpara University, Umuahia - Sector Agnostic.
The initiative aims to link these capabilities with other institutions across Nigeria and Africa, enabling universities to contribute meaningfully to subnational, national, and continental development.
The primary objectives are to:
• Set-up and configure the following pre-procured software and equipment for the sector agnostic uni pods - Rapid prototyping, ICT Equipment, Wood workshop, Creative Arts and Sustainabilty and Eco-friendly.
• Set-up and configure the following pre-procured software and equipment for the Artificial Intelligence Uni Pod - Rapid prototyping, Embedded Systems & IOT, Sensors, Robotics & Automation, VR AR & Interactive Tech and ICT Equipment.
• Set-up and configure the following pre-procured software and equipment for the Mining Uni Pod - Rapid prototyping and ICT Equipment.
• Provide comprehensive, hands-on training to designated personnel on equipment operation, routine maintenance, and safety procedures to ensure sustainable usage post-deployment.
