Introduction

Development of a Data Management System for Bar Association of Sri Lanka.

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Sri Lanka’s Flagship Portfolio on SDG16- Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions brings together inclusive governance and peacebuilding work under one umbrella. The Portfolio is implemented by UNDP as part of its Country Programme and the United Nations Sustainable Development Framework and enables the provision of cohesive and integrated support to the Government of Sri Lanka.

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) serves as the apex professional body for attorneys-at-law in Sri Lanka, dedicated to upholding the rule of law, promoting justice, and safeguarding the interests of its members. In an increasingly digital landscape, the BASL recognizes the critical need to enhance its internal operations and member services through a robust and efficient data management system.

This initiative aims to modernize how BASL manages member information, tracks professional development, facilitates legal aid initiatives, and provides a centralized platform for its members to access resources and manage their professional engagements. By streamlining these processes, the BASL seeks to improve operational efficiency, enhance accountability to its members, and foster greater transparency in its functions. The project will contribute to a more resilient and responsive legal fraternity in Sri Lanka.

 Objective;

The proposed system will aim to create a modern web-application for the BASL, that include a public exposed Internet front and an Intranet segment that supports back-office workflows, functions and reporting for the BASL officials and management.

 Please refer to the TOR for details.
