Introduction
RFQ/HPMP-II/2509/71 - Supply, Delivery, Installation & Commissioning of 60 Nos. of Split Type Air Conditioning Systems operating on R- 290
As part of Sri Lanka’s commitment under the Kigali Amendment to phase down high-GWP (Global Warming Potential) Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants and promote energy-efficient alternative cooling technologies, on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, National Ozone units, Ministry of Environment with support from UNDP, is piloting the introduction of climate-friendly R-290 (propane)-based split-type air conditioners and condensing units. R-290 technology, though currently limited in Sri Lanka’s room air conditioning and cold storage sectors, offers significant energy efficiency and environmental benefits compared to conventional HFC systems like R-410A and R-404A.
This initiative will replace 60 conventional split-type AC units in selected buildings operating on R-410A with R-290-based models. The project will monitor the energy and performance parameters related data of these units through the online monitoring system. These systems will help monitor unit performance, detect faults, and quantify energy savings, enabling the calculation of both capital (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) expenditures and supporting the preparation of the project’s final report which planned to disseminate trough the awareness and workshops.
As an essential component of this initiative, the procurement process will focus on the Supply, Delivery, Installation & Commissioning of 60 Nos. of Split Type Air Conditioning Systems operating on R- 290.
