Introduction
UNDP launched an initiative to enhance the resilience and sustainability of food systems in Jordan and Kenya, addressing the interconnected challenges of humanitarian needs, peacebuilding, and development. This initiative brings together the expertise of the UNDP Food and Agriculture Commodity Systems (FACS) team within BPPS, the Crisis Bureau Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery for Building Resilience (DRT), and the UNDP Resilience Hub for Africa in Nairobi. By integrating sustainable food system strategies with crisis management expertise, the project will adopt a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary approach to tackling food insecurity and fostering resilience.
As part of its commitment to strengthening food systems resilience and rural livelihoods, UNDP seeks to engage an experienced service provider to implement a programme in the Jordan Valley aimed at introducing DRR measures into local food systems planning and strengthening response mechanisms through building the capacities of local authorities and communities to identify risks, plan interventions, and monitor progress for more resilient food systems.
