Post Title:  International Junior Consultant for the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics applied research training initiative and CRVS research forum.

Agency: United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP)

Country of Assignment: Bangkok, Thailand

Duration of Assignment: Up to 280 working days (1 February 2026 – 31 March 2027)

ESCAP supports Asia-Pacific countries in strengthening Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems to achieve universal registration and produce reliable vital data. Following the 2014 Ministerial Declaration of the CRVS Decade (2015–2024), governments committed to enhancing CRVS systems for better governance, rights protection, and development. Research is vital to assess completeness, quality, and innovations in CRVS systems. ESCAP’s CRVS Applied Research Training (CART) initiative builds practitioners’ research capacity through modular training, mentorship, and dissemination. The consultant will design training materials, guide participants, review outputs, and organize the 2026 CRVS Research Forum to strengthen regional research capacity and evidence-based CRVS improvement.
