Introduction
Introduction
The Terms of Reference (TOR) attached outlines the scope, objectives, and deliverables for the consultancy services required to support the preparation of Bahrain’s Seventh National Report (7NR) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The consultancy is part of the GEF-8 Umbrella Programme and the GEF-7 Global Biodiversity Framework Early Action Support (EAS) Project, both funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented with the support of UNDP.
In line with CBD Decisions 15/6 and 16/32, Parties are required to submit their Seventh National Reports by 28 February 2026, using the revised reporting template and guidance. These reports are essential for assessing national progress in implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) and will contribute to the global review process at COP17.
The consultancy will provide technical and coordination support to the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) and the CBD National Focal Point (NFP) in Bahrain. It will facilitate a participatory and inclusive process involving key national stakeholders to develop national indicators, assess progress toward biodiversity targets, and compile the 7NR in accordance with CBD guidelines.
