Scope of work

1.   OBJECTIVES AND SCOPE OF THE SERVICE / WORK                                                                                                                

 ·   To procure, deliver, install, test and commission an integrated efficient solar-powered street lighting system to ensure off-grid, and reliable illumination during low-light conditions at the landfill site.

 Scope of Work: Solar Lighting System

 1.     Supply & Delivery

·     Supply all specified components of the solar street lighting systems (including poles, LED lamps, batteries, solar panels, controllers, and mounting accessories).

·     Transport, deliver, and provide secure storage of all materials at the landfill site until installation.

 2.     Site Surveys

·    Conduct site surveys to confirm optimal installation locations and system configurations, taking into account landfill operations, safety, and access.

3.     Installation & Civil Works

 ·       Complete installation of the solar streetlights, including pole erection and associated mounting works.

·       Concrete Foundation: Construct reinforced concrete foundations for solar light poles (typical size 0.6 m × 0.6 m × 1.2 m, or as per supplier’s structural specification considering wind load and pole height). Works to include:

o   Excavation and backfilling

o   Formwork

o   Reinforcement placement

o   Concrete work and curing

·       Ensure proper alignment, stability, and verticality of poles during erection.

 4.     Testing & Commissioning

 ·       Perform full functional testing and commissioning of each unit, verifying lighting duration (minimum 10–12 hours per night), battery performance, solar charging efficiency, and automatic dusk-to-dawn operation.

5.     Handover & Training

·       Handover the completed solar lighting system to the client’s designated personnel with full documentation.

·       Provide comprehensive training for operators and maintenance staff, covering system operation, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety procedures.

·       Supply Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals and as-built documentation.

6.     Warranty & Support

 ·       Provide warranty support for the agreed duration (minimum 12 months) covering all supplied components and workmanship.

·       Provide post-installation technical support and maintenance guidelines.

2.     Documentation and Support:

o   Prepare detailed as-built drawings and operation manuals. 

o   Offer post-installation technical support and warranty services as agreed.

 3 PROJECT LOCATION/SITE PLAN                                                                                                                                                         

a.     General site description

The project will be implemented at the existing Dire Dawa dump site.

 The site is situated at Latitude 9.634384° North and Longitude 41.882355° East, within the administrative boundaries of Dire Dawa, Ethiopia

b.  Site security

Site security for procured materials and equipment will be achieved by hiring security guards.
