Introduction
Conduct Feasibility Study for Integrated Waste Management for Balangoda Urban Council in Sri Lanka
To address these challenges, UNDP Sri Lanka is implementing the project ‘Scale-up and Sustain the Low-Carbon Municipal Solid Waste Management and Resource Recovery in Sri Lanka,’ in partnership with the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government (MoPAPCLG). The project aims to promote sustainable, low-carbon, and locally appropriate MSWM solutions in selected Local Authorities (LAs) in the Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces including two pilot projects.
The Balangoda Urban Council has been selected as one of the pilot locations, with an estimated 7 tons/day of daily waste collection and an estimated 15-20 tons/day total waste generation within urban and peri-urban areas
Objective;
The objective of this assignment is to conduct the feasibility and other supporting analyses, in close collaboration with national and sub-national government entities and private sector stakeholders. The engagement process will ensure alignment with national policies, regulatory requirements, and international best practices.
