Introduction

OBJECTIVESAND EXPECTED OUTPUTS/ DELIVERABLES

The objective of this Call for Proposals is to is to develop, operationalize, and document the first integrated version of the Energy–Development Integrated Modeling (EDIM) framework—an open, multi-dimensional modeling that enables countries to plan energy transitions in alignment with their broader development goals. It will enable governments and policymakers to analyze trade-offs and co-benefits at the national scale, integrating energy system planning with development impact assessment across three core dimensions:

i)     environmental sustainability (e.g., CO₂ emissions, land and resource use),

ii)    economic productivity (e.g., GDP, value added, manufacturing, agriculture etc), and

iii)   social inclusion (e.g., job creation, education, and health outcomes).

The assignment will deliver a validated, scalable, and fully documented modeling system, integrated within UNDP’s Sustainable Energy Digital Intelligence Platform, allowing users to run and interpret development-focused energy transition scenarios. The model will serve as a policy advisory instrument for UNDP Country Offices to assist governments in aligning energy transition pathways with national development agendas and SDG targets.
