Introduction
UNDP Viet Nam is looking for 01 qualified consultancy firm/institute/organization for the organization of the innovation challenge (hackathon) to promote youth-led digital solutions for climate resilience and digital transformation in the Mekong Delta - Youth Digital Citizen Challenge (YDCC) 2025.
The Mekong Delta, Vietnam’s "rice basket," is facing intensifying climate threats such as rising sea levels, saltwater intrusion, and extreme weather. These challenges disrupt agriculture, water systems, and the lives of millions - requiring innovative, tech-driven responses. As Vietnam advances its digital and green transitions, there is an urgent need to channel the creativity and technical skills of young professionals to develop scalable solutions for climate resilience.
Youth Digital Citizen Challenge (YDCC) x MUFG Vietnam
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has long been at the forefront of empowering young people in Viet Nam to become changemakers in digital transformation and climate action. Through three successful seasons of the Youth Digital Citizen Challenge (YDCC), UNDP has engaged over 500 young innovators, supported the development of more than 50 digital solutions, and built a strong network of mentors and partners across the private and public sectors. These experiences position UNDP as a trusted convener that can bridge youth aspirations with national development priorities, while ensuring initiatives are inclusive, impactful, and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key objectives of the assignment are:
1. Engage 200 young tech talents from Ho Chi Minh City to develop AI-driven solutions addressing key climate challenges in the Mekong Delta
2. Create a fast-paced, team-based innovation environment where youth apply AI, data science, and design thinking to design prototypes that respond to urgent environmental and social needs.
3. Leverage the expertise of 50–80 industry experts and MUFG mentors to support youth teams, facilitating knowledge exchange, coaching, and leadership development throughout the hackathon.
4. Bridge urban digital talent with rural climate realities, building solidarity across regions while advancing Vietnam’s dual priorities of digital transformation and green transition.
5. Showcase how strategic partnerships can unlock youth potential to address national development goals, reinforcing the role of innovation, inclusion, and collaboration in sustainable growth.
