Introduction
Introduction
Havana is a coastal city with more than 2.13 million inhabitants and the most relevant political, economic, cultural, and social center of Cuba. Due to its geographical location, it is exposed to the onslaught of numerous extreme hydro meteorological events, which cause significant damage to the infrastructure, the economy, and the population. Studies indicate an increase in these impacts as a result of global climate change.
In particular, the "Malecon Habanero" (Havana Seawall ) area is considered one of the most vulnerable areas in the country to flooding , considering the high population density and the high number of exposed housing and infrastructure.
The main objective of this contract is to develop a comprehensive feasibility study in the Havana Malecon, which will allow the identification and implementation of solutions and measures for adaptation to climate change, and contribute to reducing the vulnerability of the Malecon de la Habana as a whole.
The objectives of the feasibility study are as follows:
a) A global analysis of the region concerning the physical characterization and drivers of climate change.
b) Proposal of alternatives for action in the face of climate change.
c) Analysis of the proposed solutions and measures.
d) Provide an integrated approach to the investment required.
