Introduction
Country: BangladeshAgainst this backdrop, notable progress has been achieved in the promotion and protection of human rights for all in recent years. Many statutory bodies are functioning as effective human rights watchdogs with greater authority and independence than ever before. Social protection schemes have been extended to cover vulnerable and extremely poor groups of people. Scores of legislation have been enacted in parliament to prevent domestic violence and sexual harassment as well as for the prevention of torture, for ensuring access to legal aid for poor and vulnerable justice seekers. The new legislation, with a view to improving the protection of the rights of children and persons with disabilities, has also been enacted in line with the provisions of the relevant human rights instruments.
Period of assignment/service (if applicable): 30 working days over a period of 3 months.
