Introduction :
The Capacity Development of Local Governments (CDLG) Project of UNDP Sri Lanka is part of larger efforts by the Government of Sri Lanka to strengthen the Local Governance system in the country. These efforts are supported by the European Union, and the World Bank. This project is implemented in 4 provinces across the Island: North, North Central, Eastern, and Uva –The overall objective of the CDLG project, is to strengthen the capacities of Local Authorities (LAs) to be inclusive, responsive, and accountable and be able to plan, enhance resilience, and deliver better services to the grass-root level people in the regions. In line with the above strengthen the capacities of LAs in Northern province, Management Development Training Unit (MDTU) Northern Province, the training arm of the government, is facilitating series of classes & in-house training courses for last 2 years. The proposed procurement of 50KVA power generator is to ensure the smooth functioning of such training courses especially during actuate crises & power shortages as well as to complete these courses within the provided time lines.
