Requet for Proposals
Overview :

The UNDP Global Environment Facility’s (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) in South Africa hereby announces a request for proposals for Capacity Development, Monitoring & Mentorship Support for SGP funded projects in the Vhembe Biosphere Reserve (VBR) in Limpopo. The SGP supports community-based initiatives which aim at securing global environmental benefits through community - level actions in the areas of biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation & adaptation, protection of international waters, phasing out of persistent organic pollutants and prevention of land degradation.

GEF SGP prioritizes grant-making to poor and vulnerable communities as well as sectors such as those of women, indigenous peoples, and youth. As such, the programme proactively seeks to increase the capacities of these communities and the civil society organizations (CSOs) that work with them to develop proposals as well as to implement projects successfully and sustainably.

In order to capacitate community organisations as well as bring coordinated implementation, monitoring and impact, the GEF SGP requires the services of an NGO or research organisation to support the capacity development as well as monitoring & mentorship of funded projects in the VBR. The organisation is also expected to assist in the identification of viable community projects for funding in the VBR which are in line with the GEF SGP objectives and priorities.

Applications are invited from registered NGOs or research institutions with active presence in the VBR or surrounding areas. Terms of reference for this assignment can be accessed on the following link:
