Overview
UNDP Vietnam is seeking for 01 qualified Vietnamese consultancy firm to provide the Consultancy service for Waste management of PPE and waste in the context of COVID-19.
(Ref. 2-200703)
Viet Nam has reported 251 cases of COVID-19 from 23 January to 8 April 2020, with no fatalities and 122 cases recovered,. Viet Nam has conducted 106,399 COVID-19 tests, with 74,626 people currently under quarantine. Viet Nam has mobilized the entire government system to respond to the new coronavirus. The Prime Minister officially declared COVID-19 a national epidemic on 1 April and announced nationwide social distancing requirements for the period 2-15 April, directing people to stay at home and to only go out to buy food and medicine, to work in essential jobs or in emergency cases. Authorities are concerned over clusters in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, in particular a cluster linked to Bach Mai hospital in Hanoi and an associated service company.
Environmentally sound management of medical waste is one of the key challenges during normal times in many countries. During emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic, these challenges are magnified because the amount of waste produced increases.
The objective of this assignment is to assess options and practical solutions for environment protection and waste management of PPEs and waste in the context of COVID-19, building on UNDP’s past engagement on medical waste management in Viet Nam.
The selection will be based on a competitive basis and will comply with UNDP procurement regulations. Request for Proposal with enclosed TOR and evaluation criteria as well as Submission forms are attached.
