ADVERT RFP: REVIEW AND REVISE THE CURRENT BOTSWANA NATIONALLY DETERMINED CONTRIBUTIONS
RFP: REVIEW AND REVISE THE CURRENT BOTSWANA NATIONALLY DETERMINED CONTRIBUTIONS.
Overview :

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) hereby invites reputable and experienced companies to submit proposals bid to review and revise the current Botswana Nationally Determined Contributions. Climate change presents the single biggest threat to sustainable development and is already causing widespread, unprecedented impacts that disproportionately burden the poorest, marginalized and most vulnerable. These impacts could drive 100 million people globally into extreme poverty by 2030 Climate change will reverse hard-won human development gains, worsen inequalities, and trigger forced migration and conflict. It is also a key driver of disaster risks, leading to increased frequency, magnitude and impacts of climate-induced disasters on lives, livelihoods and socio-economic development.

In response, UNDP announced its intention to leverage its extensive climate portfolio and scale up urgently needed support for NDC enhancement in 100 countries, working in close collaboration with UN system partners. The Botswana government through the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Tourism benefits from this initiative through the UNDP Climate Promise Initiative administered by the Botswana UNDP Country Office. The Climate Promise is delivering support to selected countries to raise mitigation ambitions, accelerate NDC implementation and mobilize society for enhanced climate action.

In its effort to enhance the nationally Determined Contributions to achieve the 15% GHG emission target in Botswana the Ministry of Environment Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism wishes to undertake a process to review, re-align the NDC to existing and new policies, frameworks developed in the country since the last NDC was developed in 2015 and the Sustainable Development Goals to ensure an  integrated approach , enhanced   implementation of the NDCs. The process will also include expansion of the existing NDC to include other sectors where data is available namely the Land use land use change and Forestry (LULUCF), Biodiversity and Ecosystems and Industry and Manufacturing. Therefore, the project requires the services of a firm to lead this process as articulated in the scope of work below.
