| Overview : Citizens play a critical role in contributing innovative solutions to complex development challenges. Usually referred to as user-led or grassroots solutions, citizens are constantly hacking their own ecosystems to navigate complex realities and find solutions to the challenges that they grapple with on a daily basis. In addition, they (citizens) continue to play a central role in engaging with local, state and federal level governance institutions to ensure transparent, accountable and effective delivery of public services. Empowering citizens therefore by providing opportunities for their increased involvement in finding lasting solutions to development challenges that they face is at the heart of enhancing cohesion, rebuilding the social fabric of society and ensuring sustainable impact.
