| Overview : Background The Austrian Development Agency and UNDP funded ‘Restoration of Wetlands and Associated Catchments in Eastern Uganda’ project was developed and signed in March 2021 to be implemented by UNDP in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Districts of Butaleja, Budaka, Kaliro, Kibuku and Namutumba, as well as Environmental Conservation Trust of Uganda (ECOTRUST) and BRAC Uganda, among other relevant institutions. This project is a scale up of the earlier designed Green Climate Fund, Government of Uganda and UNDP funded ‘Building Resilient Communities, Wetlands, Ecosystems and Associated Catchments in Uganda’ project. The project has a main objective to support the Government of Uganda to restore wetlands and associated catchments by promoting catchment based integrated, equitable and sustainable management of water and related resources. The expected result is to have enhanced resilience of communities and wetland and associated catchment ecosystems in selected districts of river Mpologoma catchment with three key outputs: Output 1. Communication needs for degraded wetlands and associated catchments restored and/or rehabilitated, and intact wetlands protected for example video clips, radio jingles, signposts, billboards, translated communication materials and others as deemed appropriate by the consultant and stakeholders Output 2. Communication needs for improved agricultural practices and alternative livelihood options in the wetland and associated catchment areas promoted for example video clips, radio jingles, signposts, billboards, translated communication materials and others as deemed appropriate by the consultant and stakeholders Output 3: Required tools and information messages for improved knowledge management and communication.
