Overview :

UNDP is supporting The Tanzania`s network of the United Nations Global Compact, the UN Global Compact Network Tanzania (GCNT) in the shared mission of advancing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Since its inception in 2017, the GCNT has allowed creation of a platform for multi stakeholders from the private sector, the public, UN agencies and civil society organizations (CSOs) with a focus of promoting sustainability, good governance and fighting corruption in Tanzania. The GCNT has worked on several interventions to further the 10 Principles of the United Nations Global Compact. It has mainly partaken in public sensitization and mobilization, training and capacity building as well as advocating for social accountability in line with its four pillars namely, Human Rights, Labor, Environment and Anti-corruption alongside the SDGs.

As part of these continued efforts to raise awareness and interest toward the SDGs and furthering the 10 Principles, GCNT are launching the Business SDG Award.

This award is a sustainability initiative designed to increase private-sector engagement with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework through competition. By turning sustainability into a competitive race to the top, The Business SDG Awards hopes to increase the rate of SDG adoption, foster the inclusion of new reporting metrics based on SDG indicators and create a platform to recognize outstanding corporate efforts.

Applicants to the awards choose the SDG in which they best demonstrate global leadership, and are evaluated on their positive impact, potential for scalability, and magnetism & inspiration. The awards are open to any company or social enterprise that includes the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their annual sustainability report, integrated report or corporate responsibility communications. The awards will offer recognition in three major categories: Sustainability Reporting, Outstanding Professional, and Best Practice.

It is within this framework UNDP is seeking to hire a consultant to facilitate the launch and Organisation of the Business SDG award
