| Overview : Lesotho is in the initial stages of its third National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP III) process. The NSDP III is meant to accelerate the country’s own development and the multiple commitments enshrined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs), the 2063 Africa Union Agenda, and the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan 2030 (RISDP). The SDGs and the regional agendas have been integrated into the NSDP II 2018/19-2022/23 to facilitate integrated planning and prioritisation of development needs. NSDP III formulation will follow suit to ensure continuity and accelerated implementation of the global and regional development aspirations as stipulated within the SDGs, Agenda 2063 and the SADC RISDP frameworks. To support efficient integration of the SDGs and regional agendas into development plans and budgets, UNDP will collaborate with the Ministry of Development Planning and the Ministry of Finance, to develop capacities for promoting the SDG aligned planning and budgeting processes among the public officers responsible for planning and budgeting and to promote tracking and achievement of the SDGs. UNDP therefore, on behalf of the Ministry of Development Planning, requires services of an experienced economic development expert to capacitate Government officials on SDG aligned planning and budgeting.
