Overview :

The UNDP Strategic Governance Support (SGS) project of the Democratic Governance and Stabilization Unit (DGSU) aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations and the media to develop and implement a civic education programme at national and state levels, conduct public awareness on elections. 

In this regard, the Program is seeking competent and reputable civil society organizations, media, national non-governmental organizations, or community-based organizations to conduct civic education programme at national and state levels on elections in Eastern Equatoria, Central Equatoria, Western Bahr el Ghazal, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Unity and Jonglei States:

  1. Civic education on election and voting awareness,
  2. Train journalist, editors, media house executive on ethical and objective reporting on elections and conduct media monitoring to improve impartiality in media coverage on elections,
  3. Sharing best practicies through the documentation and exchange of information on elections.

UNDP Strategic Governance Support (SGS) project seeks to enhance voters’ awareness on elections to lay foundation for increased citizens participation in governance of their decision making during the elections through:

  • Increased voter turnout in general and from amongst women and marginalized groups in particular 
  • Helping  make informed choices. 
  • Increases the transparency and accountability of the elections. 

Reduces the scope for unfair or corrupt electoral practices

CSOs and media are requested to submit their proposals as potential grant implementers.  Applications may apply more than one location: Eastern Equatoria, Central Equatoria, Western Bahr el Ghazal, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Unity and Jonglei States.  The main objective of the grant is to identify civil society organizations (CSOs), media, national non-governmental organizations (NNGOs) or community-based organizations (CBOs) per location to conduct civic education awareness on elections in the above-mentioned locations to provide:

  1. Civic education on elections proces,
  2. Train journalist, editors, media house executive on ethical and objective reporting on elections processes and conduct media monitoring to improve impartiality in media coverage on elections,
  3. Sharing best practicies through the documentation and exchange of information on elections.
