Overview

  1. Project Description:

UNDP Solomon Island Office is part of the UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji, which formally came into existence in April 2016, because of the realignment process of the former Fiji-based Pacific Centre and the UNDP Multi-Country Office (MCO). Amongst the programmes overseen by the UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji, UNDP Solomon Island programme is the largest, averaging 5 to 6 million USD delivery per year, with projection of about 10 million soon. Following the realignment exercise of the UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji, the office in Solomon Islands has gone through an exercise to better align the SOI component with the implemented Suva structure.

In line with the programmatic focus of UNDP in the Pacific, the Country Office in Solomon Islands implements projects in the following areas: Effective Governance, Resilience and Sustainable Development and Inclusive Growth. In addition, there is a unit dedicated to results-based management and communications. The projects directly report to the Country Manager/Deputy Resident Representative and work closely with UNDP Fiji on programme formulation, oversight and implementation, as well as policy advice and advocacy to meet the development needs of the Government and people of Solomon Islands. The operations team in Solomon Islands works closely with the operations colleagues in Suva for support and guidance on operational and compliance matters. The Solomon Office shares a common internal framework (ICF) with the Suva office.
