Overview :

UNDP seeks companies which have proven experience in carrying out construction works at highest quality requirements and standards, to carry out Demolition works, Storage Tank & Reticulation, and construct a Millers Shed and Perimeter Wall Fence and Drilling of Borehole.

Transportation of materials shall be the responsibility of the Contractor.  Residues formed as a result of Civil Works undertaken will be evacuated by the Contractor to Authorised dumps.

The Contractor shall hold necessary labour, equipment, machinery, tools necessary for the successful implementation of the contract.

Some main impacts that will arise during construction phase will include dust emissions from construction activities, potential surface and ground water pollution , and other issues surrounding Occupational Health & Safety for all persons on the Construction site as well as the safety and comfort of surrounding communities directly affected by the Project activities.

In view of the above stated, the Contractor should monitor the following key parameters during the operational phas: -

  • Drinking water quality
  • Solid waste management
  • Fire preparedness and maintenance of fire equipment
  • Public Health
  • Site Security

Further, Contractor shall ensure that all construction works, installations, water quality testing both chemical and biological activities are done in accordance with the Bill of Quantities, the National Council for Construction (NCC), Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA), Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA), and with UNDP. Contractor should obtain approvals from the local authorities, as necessary.
